The Hold and the Edge

I was asked the following query sometime back: "Mississippi Gaming Commission came out with the Hold percentages of table games in the territories of the coast. Can you tell me the difference between the casino advantage and the hold?"

Well, I had to verify what he asked before replying, well, you know me. Now, here is the answer, not just for this good gentleman but for all of you as well.

House edge is a preset figure of every wager that the casino receives as pay for the fact that you are playing. Hold on the other hand is the fraction of the chips which a gambler purchased which are retrieved by the establishment. It's as simple as that, but let me go on.

The gambling houses could be said to be- not actually in the gambling line. We -the customers- are wagering, but not them. They are in the statistical/time line, managers are fully in the know that: a mediocre blackjack gambler- the more time he spends seated and gambling, the bigger the hold could become.

Many gamblers of the game give five percent of their money to the Casino owing to mediocre and blunder-filled action. It could be said that less than two percent of all blackjack gamblers use perfect strategies, that of course, is subject to debate.
